Carpe Librum
Every spring Turning the Page holds its annual fundraiser, Carpe Librum (Seize the Book!). Carpe Librum consists of two parts: first, a citywide used book collection in February and March and second, the sale of the donated books in April and May.
Carpe Librum evolved from our partnership with Politics and Prose and their used book sale in 2001 and 2002, and has expanded in size every year. Area organizations and individuals donate used books, CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes, which are then sold for five weeks at a main sale site in downtown, D.C. and other satellite locations.
You can support Turning the Page by participating in Carpe Librum in many different ways -- by organizing a book drive, donating books, volunteering to help sort or move books, and/or purchasing books at one of our book sales!

Turning the Page Fall 2009 Book Sale!
Last summer, Turning the Page learned that a major DC government grant we had been counting on to support our programs had fallen to the DC budget cuts. We held three successful book sales from October - December and thank you for your support, whether you were a shopper, a book drive host, or supported our efforts in other ways.
Carpe Librum VIII
In 2009, more than 200 community partners collected approximately 80,000 new and used books through Carpe Librum book drives! Thank you to all of our loyal friends, customers, book drive hosts, sponsors and supporters for making our seventh annual Carpe Librum book sale a great success. Thanks to all of our wonderful supporters, we sold $71,000 in used books, CDs, and DVDs! Our highest sales to date!
To everyone who lent their support we say, "Thank you!"
