High School Students Share Love of Learning With Younger Students

Turning the Page has begun a new program that brings the talents, passions and energies of high school students to Community Nights.

Students from H. D. Woodson High School create lessons for 4th to 6th grade students at Aiton Elementary. The Woodson students have named the program "Reaching Back & Looking Forward" because of their commitment to serving their own community as they look forward -- both to their own future and to the future of children in their neighborhood.

Reaching Back & Looking Forward will provide the high school students with an opportunity to further expand their volunteer skills, their ability to identify with and attend to a child’s educational needs and their own academic achievement by learning, teaching and applying real life skills.

Students will use their new skills to become more active, engaged learners and citizens.
